About Heartwood
Located between Portland, Maine
and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Heartwood College of Art has 11,000 square feet
of modern well equipped studio space, all on one floor.

There are two painting studios,
a printmaking studio that has a number of presses
for etching an woodblock,
including a 16” Brandt printing press, a 24” Sturgis Press and a rare historical
Acorn Press.

The photography lab includes a ten student gang darkroom with
individual work stations, and a fully equipped studio with Tungsten lighting and
electronic flash for portrait and commercial work.

The ceramics studio has ten
electric wheels, two electric kilns, a large gas fired car kiln and an outdoor
Raku kiln.

The jewelry and metalsmithing rooms have equipment for casting,
enameling and the tools for the
-
making of all aspects of jewelry.

A separate
studio for the making of glass beads adds an exciting dimension to that area of
study.

The weaving facilities include (8) four, eight and sixteen harness looms
as well as several table and tapestry looms.
Our library has been recently
updated and functions as a community resource library.
The comfortable
communal kitchen occupies the center of the building where students can interact
and cook together.
